Seven riders gathered for this second evening ride of 2017.  Weather was hazy Sun, 13 deg C, but it felt a bit chilly.  Without wishing to appear churlish, the growth of leaves on the trees was blotting out the Sun in our meeting space outside Victor Hugo. We were grateful when it warmed up later on.

The leader set off down the Innocent ... and followed to Bruntstane path to Portobello at the East end of the prom. There we had a brief jellybaby pause before setting off Westwards for the Restalrig path.

At the path entrance we deviated a bit, turning left to head inland to Lochend, and emerging at Easter Road (Leith end) where we rode through the links into the cobbles around the Shore, before picking the Water of Leith path to the five-way junction at Trinity.

The Trinity Path led Northwards to exit the path system at the Old Chain Pier. Somehow avoiding going in, we followed Lower Granton Road which runs parallel to the shore. Continuing Westwards led to the proms at Crammond where we glimpsed the fabulous low sun of Crammond - we were too fast and it wasn't actually setting yet - until we exited at Boardwalk Beach Club (the renovated Café). A brief climb through Silverknowes took us back onto the Northern Path system which we followed (Blackhall Path, Roseburn Path) to exit to Russel Rd at the zigzags.

From Russel Rd we rode the familiar route home to the bumps of Fountainbridge where we halted, having reached the intended endpoint of Fountain bar and the leader closed the ride.

A brisk, fastish run and the Strava pace is not to be believed, it was more like 12mph. Great.
