8th Evening Ride - Solstice ride to Standingstanes Rd, Dalmenny estate, Crammond and Waterfront

Dawn took 9 riders on the 21st June (true solstice) out along the North Edinburgh path system to Crammond Bridge, then under the Queensferry road using the spooky underpass, along the road that doesn't seem to be blessed with a name, but passes to the South of Craigie farm, then a turn north to Standingstane Rd.

This leads to the Dalmenny estate, where we had a very pleasant downhill swoosh, at least until sheep and then Highland cattle wanted to share our space, and then we climbed out back to Crammond bridge again.

From there we rode along the prom and took the path to the gasometer, taking the road up to the red bridge.   We completed the ride on the Roseburn path, descended at the Zigags, up Russel Rd to the bumps, which fortuitously opens out at the Fountain pub.

There we gathered to celebrate the completion of a nice Solstice ride, and to think sympathetic thoughts towards poor souls doing another Solstice ride the next evening, but in lesser light of course. Nights are fair drawin' in.  ;-)
